Why to study exactly the Ukrainian language?
· This is the language, which opens the door to a young state with a thousand year old written records, original culture, turbulent history, well-known all over the world folk singing.
· This is the language spoken by more than 50 million of open-hearted, hospitable people.

· L’viv is considered to be spiritual capital of Ukraine. This is the city where the Ukrainian language functions in all the spheres of cultural and social life.

Why exactly in the Centre for Ukrainian studies?
· Professionals of one of the most authoritative scientific and educational Establishments of Ukraine – L’viv Ivan Franko National University work in the Centre.
· L’viv university has a long standing tradition of teaching the Ukrainian language and literature. This was the very place where the first department of Ukrainian philology was established (1848).

By this form I confirm my participation in the summer school “Ukrainian language and country studies” (Lviv, July 22 – August 11, 2007).
Payment for the summer school is 350 euros. This sum does not include accommodation and board costs. Lviv university suggests to the participants accommodation in the university hotel (payment is 200 euros for time of the summer school).

I - SCUOLA INTERNAZIONALE DI UCRAINISTICA (MShU)- UNIVERSITÀ DI KIEV
Si svolge presso l'Università "Taras Shevchenko"
di Kiev. Quest'anno le date fissate sono:
2-28 Luglio 2006.
- Si prevedono 80 ore d'insegnamento della lingua (grammatica, esercitazioni scritte ed orali, conversazione. I docenti sono esperti di linguistica pratica e teorica, ed hanno una lunga esperienza glottodidattica. Inoltre vengono tenute 20 ore d'insegnamento di storia, cultura e letteratura ucraina, fatte da docenti di eccellente livello accademico provenienti dalla stessa Università "Taras Shevchenko", dall'Accademia delle Scienze e da altre università di Kiev o di altre città.
- Gli studenti vengono divisi in gruppi a seconda della loro preparazione pregressa. I programmi possono anche venire adattati ad esigenze individuali.
- Durante il corso vengono organizzate visite ad alcuni centri
e musei di Kiev e gite in luoghi storici e turistici di rilevante
interesse culturale: Uman', Chernihiv, Perejaslav, Kaniv e/o altri.
· Si prevede un alloggio presso la residenza universitaria (vul. Lomonosova 38), collegata da vie tranviarie e autobus col centro cittadino dove si trova l'università. I pasti sono previsti presso la residenza universitaria o presso la sede centrale dell'università. - Il costo complessivo si aggira attorno ai 300,00 e Euro per tutto il corso.

II - EDMONTON-L'VIV
The course in L'viv will be held this year from May 22 to June 30. There will be two levels:
- UKR 300 for students who have had two year of university Ukrainian (and are somewhere at the lower intermediate level).
- UKR 400 for students who have had three years of Ukrainian and are very solidly at the intermediate, or even close to the advanced level.
Students in both categories must register at the U
of Alberta (this can be done electronically or by correspondence).

V - CORSI INFORMATICI ORGANIZZATI DAL POLITECNICO DI KIEV
The Ukrainian Institute for Information Technologies in Education
of the National Technical University of Ukraine "Kyiv Polytechnic
Institute" (UIITE) proposes you to avail yourselves of the
opportunity of distance learning of the Ukrainian language through
the Internet.
The distance course (DC) "Golden Gates of Ukraine" ("Ukrainian
language for the foreigners") is elaborated specially for advanced
adaptation of the foreigners who plan to live or to work in the
Ukrainian-speaking surroundings. It will be also useful for those
who feel their affinity to Ukraine and want to master the Ukrainian
language.
When studying the course students will learn how to read, write,
understand and speak Ukrainian. Especial attention is paid to development
of the communication skills. The course is provided with the multimedia
and audio accompaniment. The course content allows not only to master
the language skills but also to plunge into the cultural environment
of modern Ukraine.
The course provides facilities for acquirements testing, that makes
the study more efficient.
The course learning will help you to:
- prepare beforehand for a tourist or business trip to Ukraine;
- facilitate your entering into language environment;
- prepare for education in the Ukrainian educational institutions;
- maintain language being out of language environment;
- live and work in Ukraine;
- fill your unity with your historic homeland being at a distance of it.
Estimated cost of the course - 500 UAH (100 US $). Access is given
for 4 months.
